I enjoyed a long and largely productive association as bassist for the Lancaster Band, one that started in 1974 and ended in 2006. During that time it ascended pinnacles of relative stardom in South Africa, was moderately successful and certainly well known within the ska genre, attributable to collective decision-making by independent thinkers. 

Towards the end of my time with the band aggregated leadership gradually waned in favour of direction by Robin Lancaster, so I left, to pursue other musical collaborations and to concentrate on building up my recording studio. 

Nonetheless there were some great times and epic moments during the course of my long involvement. The band developed in the spawning period of the creative 70’s and so many people on the periphery or directly associated with Lancaster Band went on to great things. Robin Auld, Heather Mac, Brian Davidson, Simon Walker, Lloyd Martin and Kevin Shirley are a few worth mentioning.
